The Finance Chair serves as the Foundation’s strategic financial visionary and investment steward, helping guide long-term financial planning, investment oversight, and sustainability. While the Treasurer manages day-to-day bookkeeping and financial records, the Finance Chair focuses on future growth, financial trends, and investment strategy to strengthen the Foundation’s long-term impact.
Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Planning
- Provide long-range financial guidance to support the Foundation’s growth and sustainability.
- Monitor financial trends, revenue patterns, and spending projections to help inform board decisions.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen financial health, diversify revenue streams, and improve financial efficiency.
- Support the development of annual and multi-year financial goals aligned with the Foundation’s mission.
Investment Oversight
- Serve as the primary steward of Foundation investment accounts, including brokerage accounts, CDs, and reserve funds.
- Monitor investment performance and ensure assets are aligned with board-approved financial strategies.
- Interface with Stonebridge Partners or other financial advisors to review performance, strategy, and recommendations.
- Report investment updates and future financial outlooks to the Board of Directors.
- Recommend adjustments to investment strategies as needed to support long-term sustainability.
Financial Monitoring & Board Reporting
- Review and monitor the Foundation’s overall financial position in collaboration with the Treasurer.
- Analyze monthly and annual financial reports to identify trends, opportunities, or areas of concern.
- Communicate financial insights and strategic recommendations to the board.
- Support the board in making informed decisions regarding reserves, spending priorities, and future commitments.
Donation Revenue Analysis
- Record and track monthly donations from all giving sources, including:
- Direct donations
- Online giving platforms (such as PayPal)
- Employer matching gift programs
- Workplace giving portals
- Event-based fundraising
- Pull monthly reports from online donation platforms and employer giving websites.
- Analyze donation trends by source, donor type, and campaign.
- Prepare and report donation totals and source breakdowns to the Individual Giving Chair and Business Giving Chair for annual recognition and April program planning.
