The Social Media & Marketing Chair serves as the Foundation’s lead storyteller, brand steward, and outreach strategist. This role oversees all internal and external communications, manages the Foundation’s public presence across digital and print platforms, and ensures the organization’s mission, impact, and opportunities are communicated clearly and consistently to the community. The Social Media & Marketing Chair also leads social media strategy and marketing efforts to strengthen awareness, engagement, and support for the Foundation.

Responsibilities

Communications & Public Outreach

  • Manage all aspects of Foundation communications through digital and print outreach.
  • Develop and distribute communication materials including newsletters, announcements, event promotions, donor updates, and annual impact summaries.
  • Support communication efforts related to scholarships, grants, fundraising campaigns, and Foundation initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent messaging aligned with the Foundation’s mission and values.

Brand Management & Storytelling

  • Oversee and protect the Foundation’s brand identity across all communication channels.
  • Ensure consistency in logos, messaging, visual design, and public-facing materials.
  • Tell the story of the Foundation’s impact by highlighting student success, grant outcomes, scholarships, and donor contributions.
  • Collaborate with board leaders to capture stories, testimonials, and organizational milestones.

Social Media Management

  • Lead the Foundation’s social media strategy and content calendar.
  • Manage and update social media platforms with timely, engaging, and mission-driven content.
  • Promote events, campaigns, scholarship opportunities, and community impact through social channels.
  • Monitor engagement and identify opportunities to expand audience reach and strengthen community connections.

Website & Digital Presence

  • Oversee website content and updates in collaboration with the Webmaster & Cyber Management Lead.
  • Ensure the Foundation website accurately reflects current programs, events, campaigns, and impact stories.
  • Coordinate digital marketing efforts to improve visibility, donor engagement, and community awareness.

Public Recognition & Community Relations

  • Coordinate public announcements of scholarship recipients, grant awards, and Foundation impact stories.
  • Support recognition of donors, business partners, and community supporters.
  • Assist with event publicity, media outreach, and community engagement efforts.
  • Build relationships with schools, alumni, families, and community stakeholders to strengthen awareness and support.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or social media management.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to create engaging content for multiple audiences.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, branding, and digital communication tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and creativity.
  • Commitment to the Foundation’s mission and community impact.

Time Commitment

  • Ongoing management of communication channels and social media
  • Monthly coordination with board leadership on messaging and priorities
  • Event promotion and public announcements as needed
  • Periodic website and content review
