Kellie Sagmoen
Scholarship Team

Kellie Sagmoen Scales is new to the Eastview Community Foundation as a board member, but has supported the foundation since its inception in 2007 as a teacher at Eastview and as a parent of Eastview graduates.  Kellie has taught at Eastview since it opened its doors in 1997; prior to that she taught at Rosemount High School, and Victor Valley Union High School in Victorville, CA. As a District 196 graduate (Apple Valley High School, class of 1984), she’s spent the better part of her adult life attending, supporting and working in the district.

Kellie holds an English degree from the University of MN, a masters in Education from St. Thomas University, and a Specialist degree from Minnesota State Mankato. She loves teaching English, particularly the writing process, and has helped countless students with their college and scholarship essays. Kellie believes that seeing students develop and grow in their writing, working hard to revise and perfect their ideas, organization and final drafts and using their work to help in the college selection and scholarship process, is one of the most rewarding parts of her job.

If she’s not in the classroom, you might find her reading a great book in a quiet corner, out on the golf course during the summer months with teacher friends, at the beach in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, or in the gym watching her sons and husband play or coach basketball.
